Inventory System Implementation

Project Overview

This project centered on transitioning complex machinery manufacturing from spreadsheet-based inventory tracking to a fully integrated inventory management system connected with financial operations.

Key Challenges

Complexity – The project required managing a vast number of inventory components sourced from multiple countries, each with varying lead times and destined for several production lines.

Data and Information – Accurate data management was critical. This included organizing inventory items, converting them into finished goods, handling purchase planning, and managing currency conversions.

Time Constraints – The project had a firm deadline, making close coordination with the internal team essential to ensure a smooth, phased rollout and successful implementation.

Project Approach

Planning and Definition – This phase involved identifying the required data, assessing existing systems, and understanding the full production workflow.

Execution – During this stage, the team selected the appropriate software for the new inventory management system and configured the data to support accurate financial reporting, purchasing planning, production turnaround times, and sales readiness.

Testing and Validation – This phase consisted of validating the system setup by running it in parallel with current production and generating reports to confirm accuracy.

Go-Live – In this final phase, the new system was launched, and the team collaborated to develop additional reports tailored to the specific metrics needed.

Project Outcome

The project delivered timely reporting that enabled the executive team to clearly understand current KPIs, purchasing activity, and overall financial health. It was completed on schedule and within budget. Partnering with Bridge Company Consulting allowed the company to maintain consistent machinery production and plan purchasing effectively without hindering revenue growth.
